Lets have a poll. All those who blindly wander the net and click links and install programs without looking raise your hand /l\. Its amazing that you got this far.
You know, its always a good idea to read the page that you download programs from. That way you can find instructions and information on what they do and infrmation for people new to the program like yourself.
Try going to the Abyss Product page and then goto getting started |

couldnt make c: alias despite all my trials, hehe... wanted to access my computer files remotely.
on the other hand didnt want to put the root in c since i dont want everyone to acess my entire computer.... still thinking about a setup... i guess i could use the password protection somehow.... |

This is very easy to declare such an alias: you have just to add an alias with a real path set to c:\ . _________________ Support Team

wish it were that simple... tried that in the past and again now... doesnt take it... it changes c:\ to c:/ on it's own when i make the alias...
any ideas? |

c:\ or c:/ are the same thing in Windows. And declaring an alias poiting to c:/ works without a problem. _________________ Support Team

It seems that under some conditions, setting c: as an alias won't work coorectly and leads to error 404 if you don't add a trailing slash at the end of the URL. We will fix this bug in a future patch.
But for now you can use http://yoursite/calias/ instead of only http://yoursite/calias which gives error 404.
Remember that this affects only drive aliases and not in the general case. All other types of aliases work without any problem.
