Became a proud new owner of Abyss X2 tonight!
Although a bit politically charged, I've moved two of my customer's wordpress blogs over to Abyss...
http://www.TheAngryConservative.com
http://www.idude.org
These are on Dedicated Servers hosted at GoDaddy on a 100mb connection...
Great product Abyss is! Keep up the great work people! |

Being used on a full-scale production server could be a great stride in Abyss' credibility to the Apache world! _________________ Stephen

They cost a fair amount, my last one was £60/month. I will be getting another soon once my pay cheque comes through :-) _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

They only cost about $140 USD each. I have two. One for websites and one for dedicated email.
I host total about 60 websites, ~40 domains for email and about 112 domains total in my DNS ... Most of the websites are on IIS using ASP. The wordpress sites used to be on LAMP, but I moved them to WIMP (Windows/IIS/MySQL/PHP).
I plan on moving about 6-8 more wordpress blogs over to Abyss and I'll see how it goes. Then I'll add ASP capabilities and move some of my basic ASP sites. I'll keep progressing from there. |

Just curious, what was the reason you started the switch over to Abyss? _________________ Stephen

A number of reasons... Here are a few.
1. Ease of administration
2. Speed
3. Memory Usage
4. Simple ASP/PHP capabilities
and last, but not least.
5. To try something different, outside the mainstream products which have always found ways of aggravating me. I haven't been aggravated yet by Abyss. Mostly I've been pleasantly surprised by it's capabilities. |

If anyone is interested... Here is my home network. I did all my hosting here until I got the dedicated servers.
Some stuff is still hosted here. But most of the sites/email/DNS are offsite... Just haven't updated this yet.
This is all running off a 10mb down/1mb up dedicated connection w/ 20 static IPs

Thanks! Took a few months to save enough for it. Total cost I believe was only about $3000 USD for the what you see in the pic. Even the two laptops were only like $400/each.
The expensive part was the internet connection. It was around $275/mo + the cost of electricity for the servers.

I enjoy computers and do IT work for a living, but I also host a few dozen websites for companies, non-profits, a few Hollywood type, myself, my friends and family. I wanted it to be fast, stable and reliable hardware so most of it wasn't consumer level equipment. All the Dell machines are server class and the two taller towers are homebrew servers. |

Congratulations on getting abyss x2
The blogs load fast and are very nice looking.
I myself have a dedicated server, was upgraded for free due to the one i wanted was out of stock:
Intel Pentium D Core Due 2.66GHz
512mb Ram
80gb hdd
10mbps unmetered transfer
Windows 2003 Standard
Costs me £36/$72 a month
My next objective is to buy abyss x2 for the server as apache is too greedy and i'm having to restart it every few days.
Its not done bad tho with only 512mb ram - 29 days uptime so far. _________________ http://www.jibba-jabba.net | http://www.mosthauntedforum.com |

1000GB Bandwidth
Windows 2003 Web Edition
for $120/£60 a month. Its also hosted in sanfransisco, USA. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

jibbajabba, that looks like a nice hosting company. Really good prices (but luckily not unrealistic). Are you happy with them? How's the support? That Athlon X2 3600+ based server is tempting... _________________ -Blake | New Server :D

I've only been with them a month so i can't really say if they are good, but i was keeping a eye on them over a period of 3 months and the positive comments from forums about them were good.
So far i'm happy with them. _________________ http://www.jibba-jabba.net | http://www.mosthauntedforum.com |

Awesome. Where's their datacenter? It was ridiculously hard to find anything about a location, and I found out Pennsylvania. Is that right? _________________ -Blake | New Server :D

I am now up to about 20 sites on my Abyss server and am extremely happy so far with it's performance. I have not have 1 single hiccup with it. It's so stable and so on, I almost forget it's even there. |
