|
|
I run Abyss a lot and don't need it taking up space in the Mac Dock. Is there any way to remove the icon like so many other apps on Mac give you the option to do?
I could edit this:
[KEY]NSUIElement[/KEY]
[STRING]1[/STRING]
As shown here:

But that's known to make some apps unstable. Does anyone know of a safe way to do this? |

Is this an active forum? Doesn't seem like much in the way of responses to anything around here. |

Denis,
The easiest way to hide Abyss Web Server from the Dock and from your user session is to install it as a STartup Item on Mac OS X. This will run the server in the background and will not interfere with your current user session (but the console will still be accessible using http://127.0.0.1:9999 and you can edit the files and develop and serve your site).
More on that mode of operation is available in <http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/faq.html#A7-1> as well as the user manual. _________________ Follow @abyssws on Twitter

Thank you for the response. I'd like it still to be a manual startup, I just would like the option for the icon not to show up in the dock when it's running. Is that possible? |

You have suggested a workaround and it should work perfectly without any side effects on the software. _________________ Follow @abyssws on Twitter

Thank you for your help. When I get a chance to try it, I'll report back here if it becomes unstable or not. |

I ended up not trying it. I realized that I'd rather see when it's running or not in the Dock anyway. |
