Their is no such thing as a Free version of ActiveHTML , they give you a key
serial for your Windows root and it limits things , this still carries the trial. :(
If you don't believe me , Set your clock ahead and refresh the page
and you will see the Evaluation Over message. You tried though...
Note: If you want ActiveHTML forever , you will have to copy those steps that
I wrote for the Trial version , it works on every copy and will keep it forever. |

so what is the older "free" version everyone talks about?
even from the selisoft page:
What about the FREE-Version?
We are sorry, but the FREE version is no longer available. In response, we changed the licenses and lowered the prices. |

They use to give you a free limited license after the trial to remove the trial
message but it was very limited , ActiveHTML has never been free. LateR! |

But the trial version is not free and I want to server an ASP site. So what do I do? Where can I download the free version? Their site says that they charge now. Is there any other software that will work with Abyss to server ASP sites? I really want to serve my ASP Website off my own computer. Any suggestion? |

That pirated download at this site is almost 4MB. The real ahtml is under 4Kb. http://www.selisoft.com/en/ahtml/
Is that a Trojan or Virus this guy is trying to get everybody to download? Ahtml is suppose to be less than 4Kb. |

Er. And back in the land of reality, it's closer to 5MB. Where the hell did you get the idea that it was 4K from ? And more importantly, how on earth did you think you could fit a full asp processor into 4K... |

I've tried this, it did NOT work. These trial version software are very clever, and can detect a user attempting to fool it! _________________ Olly |

1. Download the old version of the software.
http://spookshow.matfors.net/filer/ahtml.zip
2. Uninstall the current version of ActiveHTML
3. Under Folder Option/View tab uncheck "Hide Protected Operating System files?"
4. In you c:\ directory you should see a funky looking file that looks like this: B42B9C2A.AA6 DELETE THIS!
5. Now install the older version of ActiveHTML
6. Test it |
The file is now located here:http://spookshow.matfors.net/filer/program/ahtml.zip _________________ Administrator

Luckey I choose PHP from the beginning. This is what happens when you go to Micro$ofts closed source language.

If you read the post as you should do you would understand from at least 4 people that there is no free version of asp. You need to download the AHTML trial which lasts 45 days. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

It is not free. They give you a serial but it limits the program to a trial version. AHTML is the full version but is a trial and expires after 45 days. However, you can reset this 45day trial every time it expires.

I thought the free version had very limited features? Thats why there is no such thing as a full free version of AHTML. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

Let me spell it in big letters...
THERE IS NO FREE VERSION OF ACTIVE HTML. YOU MUST USE THE FULL 45 DAY TRIAL VERSION.
Maybe people will listen now. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

The reason is because Selisoft removed that file to prevent users from renewing their trial of the software. |

Have you considered PHP or ASP.NET? The original ASP (the one with the .asp extension) is very old and no longer supported by Microsoft. |

I don't Understand... if not !!
I understood that. Classic ASP extension no longer available at Microsoft.
Yes I Mean Original ASP. It's very easy than other web programming.
I don't know anything about PHP or ASP.NET :( :( :( |

To all:
Method described by TrustAbyss works pretty well up to version 1.02.0030.
You can download 1.02.0026 version from TrustAbyss web-site.
However AHTML has some limitations - for instance I do not understand how to create
applications - due to this reason some ready-to-use scripts do not work - like FileMan from www.iisworks.com, most of web-mail systems and so on.
Also NT authorization doesn't work.
I do not know how to solve this issue that's why I need to turn back to IIS... It's pity.
For those who like Abyss - try PHP and have fun! |

Now I have found it's necessary to install ASP.
Now here's a question I noticed two different versions, and I'm trying to figure out which one will work with FrontPage and other programs that actually require ASP.
Being totally ignorant in this area asking this question to people that look like have some understanding of what is required.
As I was saying I noticed two different versions.
ActiveHTML SERVER $172.73 and, ActiveHTML Workstation $42.09
The specs look the same however been a dummy as I am which one do I require. In order to use other programs properly. |
