i have finally found a fairly easy to use script to host websites however i have followed the instructions for installing perl on abyss and also the instructions for setting up this script which is webhost free from myidealscript.com, here are the instructions for that:
1, open each of the .cgi in a txt editor and make sure they have the correct path to perl. this is the first line and looks like this
#!/usr/bin/perl replace #!/usr/bin/perl withthe correct path to perl.
2, upload all 4 of the .cgi & pl scripts into your cgi bin directory make sure you upload them in ascII mode.
3, upload config.txt to your cgi-bin also in ascII mode.
4, create a directory called data on the server.
5, run admin.cgi from the web and follow the online directions.
I have done all this the path to perl is c:\program files\bin\perl.
i have put all the files in the cgi bin that im supposed to and created the data directory in C:\Program Files\Abyss Web Server i am then typing into my browser http://127.0.0.1/cgi-bin/admin.cgi and it tries to download rather than diplay the required page. |

You should declare the cgi extension as peing handled by Perl. To do so, add in the CGI Interpreters table your perl interpreter and its associated extension cgi (and eventually pl). You can bypass the #! step when you do so. _________________ Support Team
