I AM ABOUT AT MY WIT'S END. I CAN NOT CONNECT TO MY WEB SERVER FROM ANY OTHER COMPUTER OUTSIDE THE NETWORK. I LOOKED AT ALL THE OTHER DISCUSSIONS ON THE FORUM, BUT NO HELP.
I'M USING WIN 98 2ND EDITION. |

I went to see that link, and checked my IPCONFIG, everything is ok. Nowhere it what my cmd responds to me there is a 127.0.0.1
I all see correct info and my correct IPs.
I really beleive that the problem is in Abyss and its IP detection.
www.myipaddress.com is ok
ipconfig / winipcfg is ok.
Dyndns update client is ok.
The only thing that does not detect correctly my IP is Abyss. |

A web server uses the available network interfaces to listen on. It does no IP detection, it relies on Windows.
It is up to you to know how your network is structured (the web server can't guess what is there, it is just a software not a wizard).
The problem may come from a router you have on your network or a an ISP blocking the web port. Many posts are already in the forum and they discuss all the possible networking issues so please read them. Valuable information can be found also in your router or firewall manual.
And if you continue to claim that the problem comes from Abyss, we invite you to install another web server and to try if it works. We are 100% that it won't :D _________________ Support Team

Thanks for the suggestion,
I installed Apache and it worked perfectly.
It is a bit more complicated to understand though :/ What I liked with Abyss was because it was simple.
Too bad I guess. |

Not too bad, because we know how apache works and it never guesses for you what's your IP. You are sure that you were forced to give him a real IP to work on.
(It is very strange to see how people sometimes behave, if they are in front of a complicated thing, they tend to do their best to make it work. If they have a simple software, they do not take the time to solve simple problems. That's how humans work) _________________ Support Team

I got the same problem.
I tried AnalogX Web Server, Spoon Server, Omni Http web server and Apache server, all work fine. I expect it works on Abyss too because it is simple to config.
Thanks. |

Are you sure all those servers were tested on the computer with the same config and that you tried to access the server using the same IP. As we said before Abyss Web Server is able to serve on all the IPs your computer have provided that you know them.
Consider also reading the answsers to the second question of the FAQ at http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/faq.html . _________________ Support Team

I used the same config in my gateway computer to map the port 80 to my second computer (port 10080).
Then i install AnalogX web server, build in web server of Spoon Proxy, Omni Http web server and Apache web server in my second computer using port 10080.
I got no problem to access the web server of my second computer but no response with Abyss. |

Are you sure that you set the web port of Abyss to 10090 while doing that? Have checked that http://127.0.0.1:10080 was reachable and running before using the router setting. _________________ Support Team

sorry, I made a typing mistake.
The first sentene should read as"I used the same config in my gateway computer to map the port 90 to my second computer (port 10080). "
My second computer's local address is 10.0.0.2. I used port 10080 ( already tried 10090, or other port number) to config Abyss. Then I access the server with http://www.my1stcomputer.com:90/ (actually it is http://kigu.dynu.com:90/)
The result is negative in Abyss( type http://10.0.0.2:10080/ could access Abyss server ok) but other Servers are ok.
I even tried port 280, 20080 or 10002 in gateway instead of using port 90 for the mapping. The result are the same. |

Since Abyss Web Server works locally, there is no reason why it doesn't work when accessed from your router. Please verify that the computer and the Abyss is accessible inside your LAN and then check your router's configuration.
The rule is: if Abyss Web Server is accessible is accessible locally, it works. Any other problem is related to your TCP/IP network configuration/topology. _________________ Support Team

Thankyou for your explaination. I love Abyss because it is small in size but having so many feature compare with other small web server AnalogX etc.
The main problem is I install Abyss in my Second computer with any port. If I map to Abyss from port 80 of my gateway computer, it works ok.
If I map to Abyss from port other than 80, it doesn't work.
The most interesting is that if I replace Abyss with other Server like AnalogX, Spoon Proxy server etc. Everything work fine.
I don't want to use port 80 for mapping only because I want to build more than two servers behind Proxy server. For example I need to map port 90 to my 2nd computer, port 1190 to my 3rd computer and port 10090 to 4th computer.
Thanks. |

When you set the web port of Abyss to another one, do you restart the server? You should do so to apply the changes.
Abyss Web Server works with any port and it has no problem with that. _________________ Support Team

So please check if the server is accessible locally and inside your LAN. We cannot really guess what is preventing it from working. There may be a zillion reasons (blocked ports, firewall, another software using the same port, etc...) All we know is that it works without any problem and if there is an access issue, it is caused by the way your network is configured. _________________ Support Team
