I play Gunbound. A free online game available from Gunbound.net. It is an online game, and due to security and hacking issues with the game they have enabled some pretty high security. I have found though that after playing Gunbound I need to restart Abyss as it fails to respond to calls when I try to load my page. Restarting Abyss solves this. What I am wondering is, is it possible to find out what is getting blocked or stopped, that is causing this issue??? This game has over a million users... I am suprised this has not come up before.

I just tested it. Seems to work fine for me. Abyss still runs and works afterwards. If the game is 'blocking' something you probably have your 'Internet Security Level' to low. I mine was at Medium when I tried it. I also have some custom permissions set up for Java and ActiveX. Try increasing the security level. If you dont know how, its under Tools > Internet Options > Security (Tab). Try increasing it.

Perhaps I overlooked something. After changing my settings for security I played a quick game then came out to try it again. It appears that the page is trying to load, in fact part of the main page code gets executed, but it hangs at a cgi file that needs to be loaded at the beginning. And honestly I can't say for sure if that bit of code that does get loaded is in the cache or not. When I try to go to the console I can't. But as soon as I shutdown Abyss and restart it, everything is okay. (I can view other webpages thought eg: www.google.com, so it is not a browser issue.)

Well I'm lost then. I still think the game modifies some of your internet settings. I don't see any way for it to directly effect Abyss. Do you use a firewall or router? If so, what ones?

Not to reflect on my security right now, I have no firewall or router. The only prgram affected is Abyss and restarting it takes care of the issue. It works fine before I play. Doesn't when I quit the game. Works again when I restart Abyss. The ports used by Gunbound apparently are in the 3800 - 3899 range - if that helps.

Your running Abyss on port 80 and the console on 9999 right? Also, are you running any other kinds of servers (eg: mail, ftp, telnet, ect)?

I have no other server running. At this point I think it is an issue that may need to be taken up with the Gunbound community. Possibly blocking certain ports to prevent hacking as this has been an issue with them lately.

I agree. Contact them and explain the problem. If you don't mind, let us know what they say.
