When I specify a socket with FCGX_OpenSocket() instead of using the default 0, I get a 500 error code.
In looking at the log I see:

Without a working fastcgi.exe to test FCGX_PutStr() with, I can only use the extended logging (excellent idea by the way) of Abyss.
I compiled my app using
FCGX_PutS()
FCGX_PutStr()
