I want to change the attributes of my gbook.pl to 755
(using CuteFTP)
It always shows
"COMMAND:> SITE CHMOD 755 gbook.pl
253 Attributes changed okay."
but the Attributes are the same(666) and do not change!
How can I do.....???

If you have a Windows server, there is no chmod, regardless of what CuteFTP may be reporting when you enter the command. The only exception may be if your FTP server has some sort of virtual filesystem, but even then that wouldn't affect the 'real' Windows permissions when accessing the files uploaded with a different program, ie Abyss.

And if you would like to change file attributes on a Windows computer, right click the file and hit "properties."

I must say, though, Windows is not as strict as *nix when it comes to permissions. If you are experiencing a problem with a script, and you think that changing the permissions will fix it, there is a good chance that it is some sort of misconfiguration that is making the script not work.

I am also having a problem with this as well, I am attempting to install different things into phpnuke and in the instructions it claims i need to chmod to certain numbers....

i went to the paticular file and went to its properties but all the options it really gives is to share with full access or not?????????

No, *nix is so strict about permissions, it is necessary to change them on there. If you use Windows, there is no need to change anything.
