Anybody installing PHP 5.4 from the ZIP file on php.net (not the precompiled binary from Aprelium) will need to select one of the registry settings to import from inside of the ZIP archive. Otherwise, you will get 503 errors from Abyss. You can double check your config by running php.exe (as opposed to php-cgi.exe) from the command line. There should be no output, ctrl+c to end it.

After running one of these registry settings, is one then committed to that particular PHP version?

No sir, you are not. You can use future PHP zips w/o fear.
If nothing else, run the .reg with those files too, should maintain themselves.
